Vintage Design
Beautifully aged mahogany campaign chest of drawers consisting of 2 parts. Entirely in perfect condition. Warm light color.
Origin: England
Period: Approx. 1840-1860
Size: 102cm x 46cm x H. 98cm
In the 19th century, these cabinets were taken by British officers of the English army when they were sent to India, for example. They were made in 2 parts for easy and fast transport. The brass corners were applied to prevent damage during transport. The idea that they could move quickly in campaigns/battles this way was outdated around 1900. Over the years, the collection of campaign furniture of senior officers had grown to such an extent that it became complete relocations and was therefore no longer fast and efficient.
