Particular pair of chairs in walnut wood; the seat is wide and very comfortable and the covering has been redone in time with a delicate embroidered cotton; the front legs are ”cabriole” that is a design shaped in two curves, the upper one convex and the lower one concave; a shape known by the ancient Chinese and Greeks, back in fashion in Europe at the end of the seventeenth century, when it was incorporated in the more curvilinear styles introduced in England, France and Holland; the most interesting part of the chair is the elegant and harmonious back ”ballon back”. ”Balloon back” chairs were primarily made in the Victorian era, crafted by master cabinet makers who often customized them with individual decorations; this type of chair was perfectly suited to most dining table styles; very solid quality woods such as walnut, mahogany and rosewood were used, while the Australian version was made of cedar or Huon pine.
