Napoleon III Blackened Wood Secretaire, 19th Century

Napoleon III secretary in blackened wood topped by a white Carrara marble slightly veined with gray and surrounded by a molding in chased bronze.
This unique piece of furniture opens with a drawer in the upper part, a flap and four drawers in the lower part. Each of the fronts has an applied bronze strip around the edge, highlighting the brass inlays. These are composed of nets and refined floral arabesques also present on the flap with a large central decoration of bouquets, flowers and foliage.
At the corners of this flap, four sculptures in Bronze representing stylized shells decorate the whole.
The opening reveals a tabernacle composed of a Maple flecked in light wood framed with Rosewood, as well as a drawer, simulating two, with a front in Cedar burl.
On the perfectly balanced flap, a light tan leather with gold vignette is enriched with a harmonious central ornament.
This secretary benefits from numerous bronze trimmings: finely carved high and low falls, original locks with their attached keys and chiseled moldings.
It rests on four “toupie” feet with their brass collar.
Graceful and elegant, this 19th century secretary will delight you with its fine ornamentation.
