An absolutely stunning large Japanese black lacquered storage chest, 19th century. This chest is offered with superb hand carved wooden plum and cherry blossom flowers, and spectacular floral mounts. Positive meanings of flowers in China are Orchids symbolize love and marriage but also fortune and money, lots of flowers symbolizes the union and harmony, but also heart and love, and the Lilies symbolize happy union and marriage between lovers. The chest is perfect for storage and an exceptionally fine addition as a decorative piece. We have had a glass beveled edge top made so that this can also be used as a coffee table/ side table.
